Promoval na Rutgerově univerzitě, zaměření na žurnalistiku. Celou dobu studií ho však pronásledovala jiná vášeň: baseball. Hrál profesionálně za New York Yankees, za Texas Rangers i L.A. Dodgers. Pak této kariéry zanechal a ohlížel se po jiné. Přestěhoval se do New Yorku a začal se vážně zabývat herectvím a zbytek už je historie.
